Cobblestones

Cobblestones at the courtyard at Versailles.

Cobblestones in Paris

I like cobblestones and Paris has lots of them.  The patterns are so pretty.  My fascination was peaked when arriving at Versailles and seeing the gigantic worn cobblestones in the courtyard. These stones were treacherous!  You need to pay careful attention to where you are walking and you must wear flats!

Pretty pictures. I love the look of cobblestones but they are difficult to walk on.

Today, for the Fete Nationale parade, the horses were given special shoes for the cobblestones. And the two search and rescue dogs who "marched" with the pompiers were also fitted with something special on the pads of their feet for the long, long walk from the L'Arc-de-Triomphe to the Place de La Concorde.

You would have loved it, I'm sure. The fireworks just concluded at the Eiffel Tower: 700,000 spectators, 25 minutes of feux d'artifice and all in celebration of the 120th anniversary of La Tour Eiffel.

Magic.

They should call them "Gobble Stones" for they seem to eat one's shoes. Though, they are so beautiful.

Madame, you find beauty in the most simple object--what a lovely post. They are beautiful, aren't they? Cobblestones are a part of the charm of these old cities, and I am happy to trade heels for flats to enjoy the walk.
